Benjamin la bougeotte

Direction Quepos and Manuel Antonio Park

Thursday March 20th

Leaving the farm to go to the coast. Only 18 km of dirt road before hitting the paved road (which seems like the ultimate luxury right now) and we continue all the way to quepos where it is much hotter than the mountain climate and we will spend our last few days in Mono Azul Hotel.

Friday March 21st

Benjamin gets to open a couple of his presents this morning: a small box of birthday legos and the book "Happy Birthday to You" from Dr Seuss.
Then we take the local bus to Manuel Antonio Park. The main road inside the park towards the beach is full of tourist groups but the park is still amazing with easy to spot monkeys, sloths, coatis and very persistant racoon related thieves on the beach!

Saturday March 22nd

We take it easy at the hotel, a few errands in town and around the pool to recover from sunburns and "la tourista"

Sanctuaria Ecologica

Wednesday March 19th

Hike in Sanctuaria Ecologica in the morning, lunch at Morpho's Restaurant in Santa Elena, then quick shopping at "Super Compro", afternoon resting at the farm with a quick hike on the farm's trails and a very mediocre diner in our casita with unsalted overcooked  pasta with tomato paste...

Monteverde Reserva

Tuesday March 18th

Breakfast at 7am at the farm then we get to bottle feed the baby cows. They have about 13 babies that need to be bottle fed right now and they are hungry, in a hurry and pretty strong. They drink a huge bottle of freshly "pumped" milk very quickly and we have to keep up the pace to refill bottles and feed the next one. Benjamin gets to feed the two youngest ones that were born 4 to 5 days ago and still have their umbilical cords and are a little less rough. They need a little more guidance on how to get the bottle but are also very hungry!

Today we are hiking in Monteverde Reserva, in the Cloud Forest. One short hike in the morning where we can see a few Quetzals hiding in the trees and after lunch, we go for a longer hike in the forest with amazing views and animal soundtrack.

On the way back, we stop at Stella's bakery to get some desserts for tonight, have a look at the women's coop and a local version of Whole Foods Market.

Diner at the farm.
